Youth Protection Training

  • Youth Protection Training is required for all registered volunteers.
  • New leaders are required to take Youth Protection training before they submit an application for registration. The certificate of completion for this training must be submitted at the time application is made and before volunteer service with youth begins.
  • Youth Protection training must be taken every two years. If a volunteer's Youth Protection training record is not current at the time of recharter, the volunteer will not be reregistered.

You do not have to be a registered member or have a member ID to take Youth Protection training.

  • To take Youth Protection training go to MyScouting and create an account.
  • From the MyScouting.org portal, click on E-Learning and take the Youth Protection training.
  • Upon completion, you may print a certificate of completion to submit with a volunteer application or submit the completion certificate to the unit leader for processing at the local council.
  • When your volunteer application is approved, you will receive a BSA membership card which includes your member ID number. After you receive your membership card, log back into MyScouting, click on My Profile and update the system by inputting your member ID number. This will link your Youth Protection training records, and any other training, in MyScouting to your BSA membership.

Resources

District Newsletter

Talakto Scouter, Greg Newton, compiles the district newsletter and will have it ready for those of us attending the monthly roundtable. In the event that you are unable to make the roundtable, the newsletter will be posted later that evening on the Talakto District website. The link for the newsletter, as with the district calendar, is located beneath the American Flag, top right above.

Yet another resource for keeping up with what's going on in our great district.

More Resources

District Calendar

Longtime and active Talakto District Scouter Eugene Roberts has, for a long time, done an excellent job in keeping the district's 'big-picture' calendar up to date. This calendar, which can be printed out, can be accessed via the link located under the American Flag top right above. Use this as yet another resource toward providing the scouts of the Talakto District with a superior scouting program!

And Even More Resources

District Communications

Good communications within the Talakto District may not ensure that there still will not be an occasional case of "I wish I had known about that", but hopefully, it will lessen the odds of such, at least when it comes to activities and upcoming events.

While the Talakto District Website can be considered one resource for obtaining information on upcoming events, there is yet another resource which all district scouters should subscribe to. This is via Talakto District Yahoo Groups. Maintained by another longtime and active Talakto District Scouter, Dianna O'Dell, this is a resource for receiving quick, heads-up, important district notices as well as general district news and announcements - all delivered via email.

"Sounds like a great resource, how do I sign up?"

Right here.
